Meet Psychologist Jessica Cohen, PhD, LP
Hello! My name is Jessica Cohen (she/her), and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has been supporting young children, teens, adults, and families for over 25 years. I received my doctorate in 1995 from Adelphi University in New York and have been living and working in MN since 1992. I believe that building an authentic, collaborative, and trusting therapy relationship is key to our successful work together. I have worked in the mental health field as an individual and family therapist as well as a clinical supervisor. If you or your child are experiencing sadness, worry, irritability, emotional distress, stress around change, or have been through trauma, please reach out to set up a first appointment so we can begin our work together. I have been moved by the creativity and resilience of my clients and by the transformation that happens in therapy. I feel passionate and excited about guiding people in exploring and celebrating their complex identities and working with people from all backgrounds and sexual/gender orientations. I would love to have the opportunity to support you in your healing, and in helping you learn your own, unique ways to move towards more balance, growth and meaning.
I have a special interest in meeting with parents who are struggling with their own mental health issues or stress, and who find that the challenge of parenting may be bringing up painful or difficult emotions and memories connected to their own childhoods. Finding balance and time to care for yourself is so hard as a parent! I can help you cultivate self-compassion, learn to re-focus on your own interests and areas of strength and continue to develop and grow as a whole person, not just a parent.
